Ivalis Meza Gonzalez

District 8 councilmember

Councilwoman Meza Gonzalez is a proud graduate of The University of Texas at San Antonio and St. Mary’s University School of Law. Her career reflects a strong foundation in public service, community engagement, and leadership across both the public and private sectors.

In her extensive professional experience, Councilwoman Meza Gonzalez has worked across both sectors, including serving as an Intergovernmental and Community Relations Technician with the San Antonio River Authority. She later served as Chief of Staff to San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg, where she played a key role in advancing citywide priorities, coordinating cross-departmental initiatives, and supporting the City’s response during critical moments.

Her leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic was widely recognized, earning her the title of 2021 Woman of the Year on the San Antonio Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 list for her role in organizing and supporting the community’s response during a critical time.

In June 2025, Ivalis Meza Gonzalez was elected to serve as the City Councilwoman for District 8. With meaningful experience across multiple sectors and a deep personal connection to themdistrict she represents, she brings a thoughtful, results-driven approach to City Council—focused on protecting neighborhood character, strengthening services, and ensuring District 8 continues to thrive for generations to come.
