Ric Galvan

District 6 Council Member Ric GalvanCouncilmember Ric Galvan is a proud native of San Antonio’s District 6, raised in the Pipers Meadow neighborhood where he later served as President of the neighborhood association. A graduate of Holmes High School, Ric went on to earn his bachelor's degree in history and public policy from the University of Texas at Austin.

Although he originally planned to become a teacher, Ric’s passion for public service led him to explore state and local policy—particularly around public education, housing affordability and energy access. His growing interest in how electricity and energy systems affect working families deepened his commitment to sustainability and energy reliability. That work also fueled his belief in protecting our public utilities—ensuring services like electricity and water remain affordable, accountable, and publicly owned.

Ric’s experience working in District 5 gave him a strong foundation in neighborhood-based policy and community engagement, ultimately inspiring him to bring that same dedication home to District 6.

He comes from a proud family of public servants and educators. His mother is a lifelong early childhood educator in Northside ISD, and his father is an Air Force veteran who continued his service as a civilian at Lackland and Randolph AFB. His grandmothers also served the community through education—one as a principal’s secretary at Fox Tech High School in SAISD and as a faculty member at UTSA. Ric’s extended family includes generations of veterans, artists, and musicians who helped shape San Antonio’s rich cultural landscape.

Today, Ric lives in District 6 with his partner Corrina, a dedicated teacher at Las Palmas Leadership School for Girls in Edgewood ISD, and their four beloved pets: cats Simba and Toothless, and dogs Lil Dog and Pico. He brings to City Council a deep-rooted understanding of his community’s values, challenges, and potential—and is focused on building a more affordable, safe, and quality San Antonio for all.
