Teri Castillo

City Council District 5 Councilmember Teri CastilloTeri Castillo is a community organizer and a historian of Urban Policy elected to represent San Antonio’s District 5. Castillo is the proud daughter of a United States Navy Veteran and migrant farm workers.

As a lifelong, multi-generational resident of District 5, Castillo is deeply rooted in the community and remains committed to transparent, community-centered governance that puts public funds to work for the people.

Castillo is a proud product of our public schools and attended SAISD’s Burbank High School. Castillo earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Texas at San Antonio and completed her clinical teaching at Fox Tech High School. In 2019, Castillo earned her master’s degree in history with a focus in urban policy from the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Since taking office, Castillo has helped bring historic investment to District 5—nearly doubling bond funding to $95.6 million. She continues to fight for the basics our neighborhoods need: better streets, drainage, and sidewalks. From protecting and building affordable housing to standing up for working families and safer communities, Castillo stays focused on what matters most to the people she serves. Castillo has built a District 5 team that takes a proactive approach responding to constituent needs, ensuring her offices goes out into the field meeting people where they are.

Castillo calls the Historic Westside neighborhood of San Antonio home. In her free time, she’s often on the South Side of District 5—spending time with her parents or connecting with neighbors while walking her dogs Pebbles and Bam along the Westside trails.
