Edward Mungia was elected to serve the District 4 community on May 3, 2025. With lifelong ties to the southwest side of San Antonio, he is committed to advocating for residents to ensure better quality infrastructure projects, greater access to city services, and championing community well-being.
Edward is a proud product of public schools having attended Valley Hi Elementary, Garner Middle School, and International School of the Americas High School. Edward developed a passion for local government as a teenager after volunteering on campaigns, being an active participant in SA2020, interning with a State Representative, and visiting City Hall on a class trip.
Edward continued his education at Loyola University New Orleans, graduating in 2015 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science—the first in his family to earn a college degree. He returned to San Antonio and began an internship at the District 4 Council Office. After a few months he was hired as a fulltime council aide, serving the residents of our community for nearly a decade under the previous two councilmembers. Edward worked directly with residents to solve issues including help with core city services, assisting in accessing social programs, implementing street and sidewalk projects, and working on city wide policies.
Edward has also served on the boards of Move Texas (2017-2018) and South San ISD (2018). He has completed three leadership programs, Leadership SAISD (2018), the Alex Briseño Leadership Development Program (2022), and the New Leaders Council (2023).
In his freetime, Edward loves to explore local and state parks, perfecting a cup of coffee, visiting thrift stores, and spending time with family and friends.
