District 3's Legacy Leadership Initiative (D3 LLI) is a program building the next generation of Southside leaders. Members of D3 LLI will get an inside look at key institutions in San Antonio and how they affect their community. Students will have the opportunity to work directly with some of the city's experts, exploring themes and topics in various areas such as entrepreneurship, civic engagement, social responsibility, local government, education, opportunities in the district, public service, and more.
Local leaders will lead the interactive sessions to network with D3 LLI members and build upon their existing knowledge, experience, and skills. Students will get behind the scenes to look at local government, meet local officials, and connect with other students residing in District 3 and D3 LLI alumni. As D3 LLI members, students will have the opportunity to leave their mark in the district and pave a path for future young leaders. Examples of main sessions include touring city hall and learning from different city departments, attending a Spurs Basketball game and getting a behind the scenes look at what makes the Spurs run, and touring a local university and learning from education experts about what opportunities lie beyond high school.
An ideal candidate for D3's LLI should demonstrate academic achievements, leadership potential, dependability, and an overall interest in serving the community. Please review the Time Commitment Tab before applying to ensure you will be able to fully participate in the program.
