SAN ANTONIO (April 4th, 2024) – District 9 Councilmember John Courage, a former educator, proposed the introduction of property tax exemption for qualifying childcare facilities within the City of San Antonio on March 1st. Recognizing childcare’s vital role in supporting families and nurturing the future workforce, the Councilmember hopes this tax relief will help alleviate financial burdens on childcare providers and working families.

The Councilmember is pleased that the City Council unanimously adopted this initiative to allow qualifying childcare facilities to allocate more resources towards enhancing the quality of care and education for children under their supervision. By taking advantage of this tax exemption, childcare providers will have a better chance of keeping their doors open for the well-being and development of San Antonio’s children.
