Spring’s Free Landfill Day Happening This Saturday

SAN ANTONIO (April 6, 2023) – Spring cleaning? Here’s your chance to declutter your home or garage. The City of San Antonio Solid Waste Management Department (SWMD) is hosting a free landfill day this Saturday, April 8, 2023, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the following locations:
- Republic Services Landfill - 7000 IH 10 E, 78219 (Directions)
- Waste Management Landfill - 8611 Covel Road, 78252 (Directions)
- Texas Disposal Systems (TDS) Transfer Station - 11601 Starcrest Drive, 78247 (Directions)
Customers must bring a valid picture ID and a copy of the most recent CPS Energy bill showing payment of the City’s environmental fee. All loads must be covered with a tarp and customers may be required to wear a safety vest, provided on-site.
Accepted Materials:
- Appliances, water heaters, toilets, furniture, and mattresses
- Carpet, fencing material, and tires (limit six passenger vehicle tires per household)
Unaccepted Materials:
- Roofing material, sheet rock, dirt, brick, brush, lumber, construction materials
- Industrial, commercial or construction waste
SWMD also operates four bulky item drop-off centers open year-round Tuesday through Saturday for disposal of bulky material. Visit SARecycles.org for more information about those locations.
