SAN ANTONIO (October 10, 2023)  The intersection of South Alamo Street and East Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard will reopen to two-way traffic in all four directions at noon on Tuesday, Oct. 10. Underground utility work will shift from the southern half of the intersection to the northeast quadrant.

Area residents and business owners will continue to be notified of traffic and construction work updates through a variety of methods, including in-person visits, public meetings, emails, media outreach, and social media.

“I’m very pleased that the partial intersection closure at S. Alamo is reopening sooner than expected,” said District 1 Councilwoman Sukh Kaur. “As work shifts to the north side of the intersection, my office will continue to partner with the City to ensure all stakeholders in the area are supported and well-informed, and should additional work be needed, I look forward to including Southtown neighborhoods and businesses.”

This construction is part of a 2017-2022 Bond Project to reconstruct and beautify S. Alamo St. from Market St. to E. Cesar E. Chavez Blvd. The overall project is scheduled to be completed in early 2025.
