Animal Care Services offers Puppy 101 course for new pet parents.

SAN ANTONIO (August 8, 2024) - Ever wondered how puppies learn? The City of San Antonio’s Animal Care Services (ACS) Department is offering a Puppy 101 course to help pet parents become better guardians through an emphasis on positive reinforcement, consistency, and repetition. 

The free course will take place on Sunday, August 11 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Municipal Shelter, located at 4710 State Highway 151 off Old Highway 90 near the San Antonio Food Bank. Taught by an ACS team of professional dog trainers, Puppy 101 is open to any new puppy parent with no reservations needed.  

This learning lecture is for people only, so attendees should leave their pups at home. 

Topics will include: 

• How puppies learn
• The importance of socialization for young dogs
• Ways to make potty training easier
• Incorporating crate training into your new pup’s routine
