Parks and Recreation hosts the 3rd Annual Halloween Hustle 5K at Elmendorf Lake Park

SAN ANTONIO, TX (October 26, 2022) – The San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department is hosting the Halloween Hustle 5K run, walk, and 1 mile fun run at Elmendorf Lake Park (3700 W Commerce) on Saturday, October 29 from 8-10 a.m. The event, part of the Get Fit SA initiative, is free for all ages and includes costume and race prizes. The first 250 finishers will receive a race medal.

This is the third annual Halloween-themed race for the Department. Due to COVID, the first two races were held virtually. “We’re excited to host the Halloween Hustle 5k in person this year and look forward to seeing runners and walkers show off their creative costumes,” said Nikki Ramos, Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation. “Elmendorf Lake Park is a beautiful space and we hope friends and family from the community come out to enjoy the outdoors while getting fit, being well, and having fun.” Get Fit SA is a citywide fitness initiative that’s holistic and inclusive of all levels of fitness.

An opening ceremony will include remarks from special guest, District 5 Councilwoman Teri Castillo. Activities planned for the morning include:

  • Zumba warm-up
  • Inflatable games
  • Costume contest
  • Healthy vendor fair
  • Mobile Fit van health screenings

In addition to the race, Parks and Recreation has partnered with colleagues from the Department of Human Services who will be on site accepting donations of blankets, beanies, and gloves to help local families in need.
