The summit will offer guidance and resources to help students rise to graduation
SAN ANTONIO (September 20, 2024) — Today, the City of San Antonio Municipal Court, in partnership with select San Antonio Independent School District high schools and community organizations, launched the first of four summits happening this fall. The summits aim to support high school seniors as they navigate challenges on their path to graduation.
Each "Senior Summit: Rise to Graduation" event offers a variety of interactive workshops, mentorship sessions, motivational speakers, and engaging activities, all designed to equip students with the tools and resources necessary to successfully complete their high school education.
Program Overview
The summits provide a three-phase approach tailored to the unique needs of each student and their families:
- Guidance and Planning: Juvenile Case Managers and district representatives will provide essential guidance, support, and resources in crafting individualized graduation plans with each senior.
- Judicial Insight: Seniors and their families will meet with a judge to discuss their plans, receive clarity, and explore how their academic achievements benefit our community.
- Community Resources: Community partners will be on hand to advise seniors and their families on available support services and post-graduation opportunities.
"Our Senior Summit events were created to offer a supportive environment for students facing difficulties in completing their education," stated Municipal Court Presiding Judge Carla Obledo. "By helping these seniors reach their academic goals, we’re strengthening our community, driving local economic growth and promoting a safer San Antonio."
