Join the Launch of "Magical Park at Copernicus Park" this Saturday
This augmented reality adventure is a new way of activating park space.

SAN ANTONIO, TX (November 17, 2023) – Step into a world where reality and imagination collide with the City of San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department and the Office of Innovation. Magical Park is an innovative augmented reality game where participants can explore among dinosaurs, aliens, elves, ocean creatures and more. The community is invited to the official prototype launch on November 18 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Copernicus Park (5003 Lord Rd) as the City pilots this new way of activating park space.

No reservations or tickets are required for this day – simply head to the park with your personal device and join the adventure. Complete a game for a chance to receive a free tree and win prizes while supplies last.

“Magical Park is a bridge between the digital and the natural world, offering an immersive experience that motivates all participants to learn and create new memories,” said Chief Innovation Officer Brian Dillard. “We believe Magical Park will enrich our community by encouraging physical activity, education, and an appreciation for the outdoors."

The initiative is designed to get people moving, allow them to solve puzzles, and help them discover hidden treasures in Copernicus Park.

“Magical Park provides a blend of technology along with creative outdoor fun in the park,” explained Parks and Recreation Director Homer Garcia. “Participants of all ages can enjoy this ‘invisible playground’ where video games meet physical activity.”

Be among the first to see the game in action with a live demonstration and embark on your very own Augmented Reality (AR) adventure right within the park.
