SAN ANTONIO (May 6, 2024) — The City of San Antonio invites the community to visit downtown and La Villita Historic Arts Village this May for a wide variety of events.

San Antonio Asian Festival

When: Saturday, May 11, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m., ticketed event

The San Antonio Asian Festival is back at a new location this year – La Villita Historic Arts Village! Hosted by the Asian Resource Center of San Antonio, the festival will feature pan-Asian entertainment, food, merchandise and more. The family-friendly event celebrates the diversity of Asian cultures and communities in San Antonio with hands-on activities and opportunities to learn through experience. River Walk LIVE!

When: Thursday, May 16, 7-9:30 p.m., FREE

River Walk LIVE! is a monthly concert series that happens every third Thursday. Local and national talent make their way to the Arneson River Theatre at La Villita to perform musical acts that fill the River Walk with sweet sounds. San Antonio Youth Ballet Presents "Don Quixote"

When: Sunday, May 26, 6-7:30 p.m.

The San Antonio Youth Ballet presents “Don Quixote” at the Arneson River Theatre at La Villita. Follow the quintessential dreamer, Don Quixote, and his faithful squire, Sancho, as they pursue romantic ideals, battle imaginary dragons, and get mixed up in the misadventures of two young sweethearts. Dancing in the Dark: Swing Into Summer

When: Tuesday, May 28, 6-8 p.m., FREE

Looking for a fun, free date night? The La Villita’s Dancing in the Dark series features swing dance lessons taught by professional dance instructor Jeremy Zipagan, choreographer of La Villita’s annual Fiesta Noche del Rio summer performances. Lunch Break on Houston Street

Downtown can get busy on the weekends – plan ahead!There are numerous street closures in the downtown area as well as the potential for heavy traffic with several large events taking place throughout the month. Take public transportation, ride-share, bike, walk, or consult Google Maps or Waze before you leave. TheSt. Mary’s Garage (205 E. Travis St.)and theCity Tower Garage (117 W. Commerce St.)are located just steps from the River Walk, Houston Street and Travis Park, and they generally have a large availability of public parking spaces.Downtown Tuesday offers free parking on Tuesdays from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. in City-owned parking facilities, and City Tower Sundays offers free parking on Sundays from 7 a.m. to midnight at theCity Tower Garage (117 W. Commerce St.).
