SAN ANTONIO (March 1, 2024) – District 9 Councilman John Courage, a former educator, is proposing a Council Consideration Request (CCR) to introduce possible City of San Antonio tax exemptions for qualifying childcare facilities. Recognizing childcare’s vital role in supporting families and nurturing the future workforce, the Councilman hopes this effort will help alleviate financial burdens on childcare providers and working families.

If adopted, the Councilman believes this CCR may allow qualifying childcare facilities to allocate more resources towards enhancing the quality of care and education for children under their supervision. By providing a tax exemption, the Councilman envisions an environment where childcare providers can thrive to benefit the well-being and development of San Antonio’s children.

District 9 invites childcare providers, early education advocates and the media to join them on Wednesday, March 6, at 10:30 a.m. for a press conference in Municipal Plaza B Room to learn more about this initiative envisioning a more accessible and equitable childcare system.
