District 6 Councilwoman Appointed to the Disability Committee of the San Antonio Fire and Police Pension Fund


SAN ANTONIO (June 13, 2023) –The San Antonio Fire and Police Pension Fund (SAFPPF) Board of Trustees announced the appointment of District 6 Councilwoman Melissa Cabello Havrda to its Disability Committee. The appointment recognizes Councilwoman's commitment to promoting inclusivity and advocating for the rights and well-being of individuals with disabilities in the San Antonio community.

“It is an honor to receive the SAFPPF’s appointment,” said the Councilwoman. “This appointment is an opportunity to use my experience as Chair of the Council’s Public Safety Committee and as a disability attorney in a way that benefits our first responders and our entire community.”  

Established in 1919, the San Antonio Fire and Police Pension Fund serves as a vital support system for approximately 7,290 police officers, firefighters, retirees, beneficiaries, and disabled individuals in the City of San Antonio. With total assets amounting to $4,181,159,556, the fund plays a critical role in providing comprehensive retirement, death, and disability benefits to its members.

The appointment is a reflection of the new committee member’s wealth of experience and deep-rooted commitment to public service; it reflects a dedication to inclusivity and a desire to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals with disabilities.
