District 5 Councilmember Files Request in Effort to Bolster the Relocation Assistance Fund
SAN ANTONIO (March 8, 2024) — Today, District 5 Councilwoman Teri Castillo filed a Council Consideration Request that aims to provide more funds toward the City of San Antonio’s Relocation Assistance Fund. The fund provides low-income households impacted by financial hardship and housing instability with the opportunity to transition into safe, stable, and affordable housing.
The objective of this request is for City of San Antonio staff to develop a policy which:
- Creates a comprehensive fee structure for all Dangerous Assessment Response Team (DART) properties to be paid until the property is brought into full compliance; and
- directs the entirety of those fees toward the City of San Antonio Relocation Assistance Fund, so the City can assist more families transition to safe, stable, and affordable housing.
Councilmembers Jalen McKee-Rodriguez (D2), Dr. Adriana Rocha-Garcia (D4), Marina Alderete Gavito (D7), and John Courage (D9) signed on to the policy proposal.
