District 5 Councilmember Applauds Funding for San Antonio Fire Department’s Mobile Integrated Healthcare Unit

SAN ANTONIO (November 3, 2022) — Today, City Council passed an ordinance authorizing the acceptance of funds from the Southwest Texas Regional Advisory Council for Trauma (STRAC) for the San Antonio Fire Department in the amount of $396,313. This grant will fund the Opioid Crisis Response efforts orchestrated by the SAFD’s Mobile Integrated Healthcare team.

District 5 Councilwoman Teri Castillo provided the following statement:

“I applaud City staff and STRAC for finding a way to fund this extremely important initiative from the San Antonio Fire Department that saves lives. During the budget amendment process, one of our requests was to fund the Mobile Integrated Healthcare unit because we know that the opioid crisis has devastated so many families throughout San Antonio. With this funding, the MIH unit will continue to provide education and recovery services for individuals experiencing addiction.”
