SAN ANTONIO (Sep 7, 2023) — Councilwoman Teri Castillo is attending the Local Progress National Convening: Collective Courage. Collective Power! The convention will spotlight issues related to economic justice, housing, preemption, and other local organizing efforts.

As a member of the Texas Steering Committee for the Texas delegation of Local Progress, the District 5 Councilmember will facilitate a conversation around state preemption. “Across the country,” Councilwoman Castillo said, “local elected leaders want to have the tools to strategize against abusive state overreach. I am looking forward to facilitating conversations about preemption and discuss how local leaders can organize and fight back.”

The convention will bring more than 300 Local Progress members, partners, and movement allies from across the country and is set to last from September 6 – 9 in St. Louis, Missouri.

Local Progress is an organization of local elected officials committed to advancing a racial and economic justice agenda through all levels of local government.
