District 3 Councilwoman Invites the Community to Spring Clean, Donate Food, and Stay Healthy

SAN ANTONIO (March 21, 2024) — District 3 Councilwoman Phyllis Viagran is partnering with several organizations to host three events this weekend: Juntas, We Can! Food Drive; Spring Clean with D3; and the D3 Women’s History Month Walk & Health Fair.

The Juntas, We Can! Food Drive is a month-long collaborative effort that invites individuals, businesses, and organizations to come together to make a positive impact by donating non-perishable food items and dog food. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, could make a difference in the lives of those facing food insecurity. There are six drop-off locations throughout District 3 available from now until March 31:

  • McCreless Branch Library – 1023 Ada St, 78223
  • Pan American Branch Library – 1122 W Pyron Ave, 78221
  • Mission Branch Library – 3134 Roosevelt Ave, 78214
  • Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 837 Highland Hills Southeast – 4436 Valleyfield Dr
  • South Texas Business Partnership – 3128 Sidney Brooks St, 78235
  • Texas A&M University-San Antonio – One University Way, 78224

Spring Clean with D3 is a pop-up Dial-a-Trailer event aimed to encourage residents to drop off any unwanted bulky items. This Dial-a-trailer will be available this Saturday, March 23 from 9 a.m. to noon inside Brooks on 8193 Challenger Dr.

The D3 Women’s History Month Walk & Health invites the community to stay healthy by coming together for a self-paced walk and by connecting with various health organizations. This event is set for this Saturday, March 23 at the Stinson Airport Trailhead, located at 8535 Mission Rd.

"We believe that by coming together as a community, we can create a ripple effect and alleviate hunger, stay healthy, and make sure we keep our rivers clean in our neighborhood," said the District 3 Councilwoman.
