SAN ANTONIO (November 29, 2023) — Today, Councilwoman Viagran, in collaboration with the Aviation Department's Business Opportunity and Diversity Development (BODD) office, spearheaded an impactful Airport Vendor Orientation. The event aimed to equip local businesses with the knowledge and tools necessary to pursue business opportunities with both San Antonio International Airport (SAT) and Stinson Municipal Airport (SSF), learn of upcoming opportunities, and understand the RFP process. This was an open-house style event, with rolling presentations scheduled hourly by Aviation and time in between to talk with Aviation staff and representatives from the South Central Texas Regional Certification Agency (SCTRCA).

This format allowed participants to gain in-depth knowledge into the intricacies of operating within a unique, secure, and aeronautical setting. They acquired knowledge on the prerequisites for receiving notifications regarding upcoming solicitations and conducting work on airport premises. The orientation also covered information about the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) and Airport Concession Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (ACDBE) programs, in addition to providing details on upcoming opportunities and certification procedures.

Councilwoman Viagran expressed her enthusiasm about the event, stating, "The Airport Vendor Orientation goes beyond mere awareness, as this is a pivotal step in fostering collaboration and empowering local businesses to thrive within the aviation sector. By providing a platform to understand the intricacies of doing business with SAT and SSF, we aim to strengthen our local business community and create lasting economic impact."

Furthermore, City of San Antonio staff will shed light on the certification process through the SCTRCA. Certification is a pivotal element for participation in diverse opportunities, and the City’s goal is to furnish the public with the knowledge necessary to navigate this process effectively.
