Women Making History Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow

SAN ANTONIO (March 2, 2023) – Today, Councilwoman Phyllis Viagran Celebrates Women’s History Month by celebrating the contributions and achievements of women throughout history who have played a vital role in shaping our world, fought gender inequality, broken barriers highlights and paved the way for future generations.

Women in San Antonio are still making history. Today the Councilwoman honored Amanda Keammerer as the Point of Personal Privilege in celebration of Women Making History in Digital.

“Amanda is an example of a strong Latina leading at the intersection of people, politics, tech, and art,” the Councilwoman said. “Also, she is the author of a children’s book on cybersecurity-the first bilingual children’s book – both written and illustrated by two Latinas, Amanda and San Antonio artist, Kat Cadena.”

The Councilwoman was part of the First National Digital Inclusion Alliance Conference in San Antonio. Hosted by Angela Siefer, Executive Director of National Digital Inclusion Alliance, the conference was attended by U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Gina Raimondo, who was the first female Governor of Rhode Island and now a women leader for our nation.

The highlight of celebrating iconic women culminated with the Councilwoman serving as Mayor Pro Tem and welcoming Rosie Castro as the Interim Councilwoman for District 7.

“It is a moment of reflection, that two families have served Districts 3 and 7, showing their commitment to public service.”
