District 1 Councilwoman’s statement on CPS Energy rate change

SAN ANTONIO (December 7, 2023) – Today, City Council approved CPS Energy’s request to increase its rates and expand its Affordability Discount Program. District 1 Councilmember Dr. Sukh Kaur released the following statement:

“Throughout this process, energy reliability and affordability have been my top priorities. Residents deserve peace of mind knowing that their energy utility won’t fail them or burden their wallets.

After careful consideration, the only way for CPS Energy to guarantee reliability and affordability was with a rate change and an expanded affordability discount program. CPS Energy’s plan to extend their affordability discount to households with severe energy burdens is a tremendous step forward.”
