Daytime closure of North St. Mary’s Street and Ashby Place intersection scheduled for Saturday, July 22

San Antonio (July 21, 2023)  The intersection of N. St. Mary’s St. and East Ashby Place will be closed from 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 22 while contractors lay the final layer of asphalt. Flaggers and detour signage will be in place to help facilitate the flow of traffic.

“We thank the public for their patience as we enter the home stretch for this project,” said Razi Hosseini, Director of the City of San Antonio’s Public Works Department. “This temporary, day-time road closure will allow the contractor to finish its work more quickly. We are eager to complete this project, which will bring a better experience for all who drive, cycle, and walk down North St. Mary’s Street.”

The intersection is the last area requiring work as part of the voter-approved 2017 bond project. Asphalt paving has been completed for the rest of the N. St. Mary’s St. corridor. After this weekend, contractors will be working to finish up landscaping, lighting, signage, and striping.

The next weekly public meeting regarding this project will be at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, July 27 at St. Sophia's Greek Orthodox Church.

The project is scheduled for completion this Summer. For more information, visit https://saspeakup.com/stmarys.
