SAN ANTONIO (September 1, 2023) — The much-anticipated 8th Annual World Heritage Festival will begin on September 6 and continue with an exciting schedule of events each day through September 10, 2023! This multi-day festival celebrates the unique history and culture of San Antonio’s vibrant community, coinciding with the globally recognized Organization of World Heritage Cities Solidarity Day on September 8. This global observance unites cities around the world in their commitment to protecting and promoting cultural heritage.

The World Heritage Festival is an annual collaborative celebration presented by the City of San Antonio World Heritage Office and its partners which include Bexar County, San Antonio River Authority, National Park Service, The Alamo, Mission Heritage Partners, National Parks Conservation Association, Las Misiones, and other City departments that contribute to the success of the festival and ensure a one-of-a-kind experience. Collectively, the World Heritage Festival events promote the historic San Antonio Missions and raise awareness of its designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the only World Heritage Site in Texas!

“San Antonio’s World Heritage Festival has established itself as a cornerstone celebration that unites people through cultural exchange, education, and entertainment,” said District 3 Councilwoman Phyllis Viagran, whose district covers the majority of the World Heritage Buffer Zone. “Throughout the five days, attendees can anticipate a series of engaging events designed to promote heritage awareness and foster a sense of unity among diverse communities.”
