Featuring adoption specials, food trucks, and goodies for your new pet

SAN ANTONIO (July 27, 2023) –Warmer weather means more pets coming into local shelters. In a push to empty the shelter, San Antonio Animal Care Services (ACS) joined the BISSELL Pet Foundation to host a month-long adoption party that comes to a close this weekend. The “Hot Dogs and Cool Cats BISSELL Blowout Bash” features discounted dog and cat adoptions at only $25 on a first come, first served basis. Would-be adopters can browse a number of pet-related vendors on campus and even enter to win further reduced adoption fees. Food trucks from VS Treats and Crudo 210 will be on site to purchase street eats, frozen treats, and local favorites.

This marathon placement push has seen more than 300 pets find homes so far; ACS hopes to place a total of at least 500 dogs and cats by the end of the month. Adopters can get started before coming in by checking out the municipal shelter’s dogs and cats at SAACS.info/PetSearch. All pets adopted from ACS are sterilized, vaccinated with their first round of shots, and microchipped with a free lifetime registration and basic training for adopted dogs or puppies. The municipal shelter is located at 4710 State Hwy 151 and the event will run 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
