SAN ANTONIO (October 8, 2025) – More than 3,000 residents have found better jobs, stronger careers, and brighter futures with the help of San Antonio Ready to Work (RTW).
On average, RTW-approved jobs pay more than $44,600, which is above the program floor of $31,200 per year. These jobs are in demand for their career fields and include access to benefits. RTW-eligible participants can earn industry certifications, associate’s or bachelor’s degrees, and receive job placement assistance that empowers them to connect with local employment opportunities.
“With over 3,000 job placements, Ready to Work is proving that it is worthwhile to invest in our people,” Workforce Development Office Executive Director Mike Ramsey said. “These jobs are changing lives and helping our local businesses to thrive. San Antonio residents voted to have this program, and we should all be proud that it is helping local residents obtain in-demand skills, good jobs, and a better quality of life for their families.”
Through the first three quarters of this year, RTW has already placed more than 1,315 participants into good-paying jobs. On average, participants obtaining a job through RTW have seen their annual salary increase by more than $33,000.
“I had no idea the person that was sitting behind a desk one day that said, you know what, I’m going to do this for the citizens of San Antonio, but I thank Jesus every day for that person,” San Antonio Ready to Work participant Miguel Espinoza said. “This is probably one of the best things I’ve ever done in my whole life.”
This initiative continues to positively impact employers with more than 1,360 small, mid-size and large organizations hiring from the RTW program. The locally trained, job-ready workers fill essential roles the city needs in areas such as healthcare, manufacturing/logistics, skilled trades, IT, and education.
“Methodist Healthcare is seeing the benefit of this program by helping fill our in-demand jobs in the nursing and allied healthcare fields," VP of Workforce Strategy and Development Jimena Saenz said. “We are proud to be a pledged employer, and we look forward to helping more individuals realize their careers.”
