San Antonio Household Hazardous Waste Event on March 22

SAN ANTONIO (March 20, 2025) – City of San Antonio's Solid Waste Management Department (SWMD) customers are invited to participate in a Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) event on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium, located at 5757 US-90, 78227.

The event is open only to SWMD customers. A valid picture ID and a copy of a recent CPS Energy invoice showing payment of the environmental fee are required. There is no charge to attend this event.

Accepted Materials for Disposal

• Paint
• Oil
• Chemicals
• Pesticides
• Batteries
• Electronics

Items Not Accepted

• Household garbage
• Ammunition
• Fireworks
• Medications
• Bio-hazardous waste

Requirements for Drop-Off

• Contents should be kept in the original container.
• If the container leaks, transfer contents to a leakproof or lined cardboard box.
• Do not mix different materials in the same container or bag.
• Place all items in a box and put them in the trunk or truck bed during transport.
• A technician will unload the HHW materials and return the containers upon request.
• If materials are brought in a non-approved container, it will not be returned.
• Paint and other liquid waste are limited to five 5-gallon cans or 25 1-gallon cans with a 220-pound limit.

This event is in addition to the permanent HHW drop-off center at 7030 Culebra Road that is open the entire year. Complete information on the SWMD's HHW program including locations, hours and accepted items can be found at SARecycles.org.
