San Antonio’s Pop Madness® fan convention returns to Central Library

Sixth annual event features authors, artists, anime, crafts, cosplay, and more.

SAN ANTONIO (May 9, 2023) – Pop Madness®, San Antonio’s free fan convention hosted by San Antonio Public Library is back at Central Library (600 Soledad St., 78205) on Saturday, May 13 beginning at 10 a.m.
 
Now in its sixth year as San Antonio’s premiere free pop culture convention, Pop Madness® brings together fans from a diverse variety of fandoms while celebrating authors, artists, and content creators of all types. Hosted virtually in 2021 and at the Igo Branch Library in 2022, Pop Madness® is back and better than ever at the newly renovated Central Library.
 
Authors in this year’s lineup include Kazu and Amy Kibuishi, Xavier Garza and Tracy Wolff while guest artists Usagi Wasabi, Hanna Schroy and Mauro de la Tierra will also be in attendance. A Zoom presentation by Instagram celebrity Dean Nicholson of 1Bike1World and cartoonist Kelly Ulrich is also scheduled. Social media guests Chef Mary Lou Davis and Chancla Academy will also be in attendance.
 
The all-ages event will include kids' crafts, an area where you can make your own Funko Pop-inspired figurine, Viking reenactment, video and tabletop gaming, a cosplay contest for teens and adults, a children’s costume parade, cooking demonstrations, food trucks, and more.
