Sgt. Gaffney is Turning 100

San Antonio (April 20, 2023) – Sergeant James Gaffney (retired SAPD) is celebrating his 100th birthday on April 20, 2023. Sergeant Gaffney joined the San Antonio Police Department in 1954 and retired in 1977. He served honorably in the United States Coast Guard during WWII and was deployed aboard ship in the North Sea, in Northern Europe, and was aboard ship in the English Channel on D-Day.

Sergeant Gaffney is the oldest living San Antonio Police Department retiree.

Sergeant Gaffney lives at 330 Eleanor and his next-door neighbor is hosting a birthday celebration at 328 Eleanor on Thursday April 20, 2023, at 60 p.m. SAPD-Eagle is tentatively scheduled to perform a flyover at the event as well.
