SAN ANTONIO (February 10, 2026) — The City of San Antonio invites the community to the popular cultural event Restored by Light at Mission San José (6701 San José Drive) on Friday, February 13. Gates open at 5 p.m. with the lighting program beginning at 6:45 p.m.
Restored by Light uses projection technology to give visitors a glimpse of the vivid frescoes that were once visible on the façades of some of San Antonio’s missions. Preservation architects helped to map the frescos based on prior conservation work on the missions.
The event is free and family-friendly with food trucks, live performances, activities for kids, and a dazzling light show celebrating San Antonio’s World Heritage Site designation. Gates open at 5 p.m. with a choral presentation by Texas Children's Choir inside the Mission San José Church. Folklorico performances by the San Antonio Parks Dance Program will take place under the Rose Window at 6 p.m.
As the lighting program begins at 6:45 p.m., remarks will be made by District 3 Councilmember Phyllis Viagran, Office of Historic Preservation Director Shanon Shea Miller, and World Heritage Office Director Colleen Swain.
This year’s event commemorates the 10th anniversary of San Antonio's Spanish Colonial Missions being designated as a World Heritage Site. It is the first Restored by Light event since 2021 and is presented by the City’s Office of Historic Preservation and World Heritage Office.
