SAN ANTONIO (October 6, 2026) – The City of San Antonio Office of Historic Preservation (OHP) invites the community to a Picnic & a Movie in the Eastside Cemeteries, featuring a screening of the 1993 family Halloween classic Hocus Pocus. The free event takes place Saturday, October 10, with gates opening at 6:30 p.m. and the movie beginning at sundown.

Families are welcome to bring snacks or dinner for a picnic. Blankets and lawn chairs are encouraged.

“This was such a wonderful activity,” said an attendee of the first Picnic & a Movie. “It brought back the memories of when families had picnics and gathered in the Cemetery, and it was very well organized.”

Now in its fourth year, the event invites guests to explore the picturesque Eastside Cemeteries and learn more about OHP's ongoing work with the Cemetery Steward Program. Launched in 2020, the program celebrates the beauty of the City’s cemeteries, educates the public about these historic sites, and supports the restoration and care of these sacred spaces.
