The library offers school resources for students of all ages.
SAN ANTONIO (August 7, 2024) – As students return to school for the fall, San Antonio Public Library (SAPL) is reminding their families and the community about free educational resources available at the library. Throughout the year, SAPL supports children, teens, and adults on their educational journeys.
SAPL offers everything students and families need to kick off the school year. In addition to a collection of over 2 million items available for check out, library locations offer online tutoring, Wi-Fi, low-cost printing services, and more. A free library card is required to access many services. Bexar County residents can sign up online for a temporary digital account or visit any SAPL location to register for a library card.
Here’s a selection of free, educational resources available for all ages from SAPL:
Free Online Tutoring and Homework Help
Daily | 11 a.m. - 11:59 p.m.
SAPL connects students to Homework Help heroes every day. Free online homework help from professional tutors is available in a variety of subjects for students in kindergarten through college. Tutors are available from 11 a.m. to 11:59 p.m., seven days a week in English and Spanish. For more information, visit the library's Back to School resource guide.
Database Access
Looking for the August 1973 issue of National Geographic for a research project? Need access to over 60 years of articles about rock music? From aardvarks to ZZ Top, SAPL is your doorway to over 170 online databases, including popular news databases like The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. Some databases are library-use only, so visit your nearest SAPL location to use these resources. To get started, visit SAPL's database guide.
Read-alongs
Available at all SAPL Locations
Read-alongs, or books that have built-in audio narration, are perfect for young children learning to read English or Spanish for the first time. Read-alongs are an entertaining, self-guided way to help enhance a little one's literacy skills. To borrow a read-along, visit the read-along shelf at any SAPL location. MySAPL App
Download now!
Download instant access to the SAPL collection on a phone or mobile device. The MySAPL app is free, easy, and available for both iOS and Android users. The app allows patrons to take the library on the go wherever they are.
PrintOnline
Available at all SAPL Locations
PrintOnline is a low-cost mobile printing service available to all library cardholders. Get printing in four simple steps:
- Access the PrintOnline portal.
- Upload documents from home, the office, a coffee shop, or anywhere with internet access.
- Visit any library location to print.
- Enter a SAPL card number into the print kiosk at the library to finish printing.
Free Indoor & Outdoor Public Wi-Fi
Available at SAPL Locations
No Wi-Fi password is required at SAPL! Wi-Fi is available at all SAPL locations daily.* Indoor Wi-Fi is available during normal service hours and outdoor Wi-Fi is available from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. every day.

SORA App
SAPL has partnered with every public school district in the area to offer students unlimited access to age-appropriate materials in the Digital Library even without a library card, thanks to the Sora app by OverDrive, San Antonio students at participating schools can easily browse an extensive library of digital materials.
