New Year, New Record for San Antonio International Airport

2024 was SAT’s busiest year, setting another all-time passenger record.

SAN ANTONIO (January 31, 2025) — San Antonio International Airport (SAT) is starting the new year with a new record: 2024 is officially SAT’s busiest year ever. For the first time ever, more than 11 million passengers flew through SAT. With a total of 11,094,278 passengers, this is nearly 4 percent higher than the previous record of 10,676,570 set in 2023.

“SAT recovered quicker than many airports from the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Jesus Saenz, Director of Aviation, City of San Antonio. “Starting in 2023, we began to set monthly passenger records. That momentum carried into 2024, bringing another historic milestone for SAT and breaking the 11 million passenger mark for the first time. We announced many new routes domestically and internationally. Now we’ll set our sights on exceeding another goal.”

SAT Passenger Records in 2024

• December 20, 2024: busiest day in the airport’s history
• 11 record-breaking months: January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, and December
• July 2024 became the busiest month on record, with 1,032,610 passengers
• The first October with more than 1 million passengers

“We are thrilled to hit these milestones at SAT and couldn’t have done it without our airline partners,” said Jacob Tyler, Air Service Administrator for the City of San Antonio’s Aviation Department. “We continue to work hard in collaboration with airlines to grow nonstop service from SAT. Continuing to choose to fly from SAT shows the airlines that San Antonio is a place they should be investing their aircraft.”

New Service Beginning in 2025

• February 20: Seasonal Mardi Gras/Spring Break service to New Orleans (MSY) on Spirit Airlines, joining existing service offered by Southwest Airlines
• March 3: Daily, nonstop service to Washington, D.C. (DCA) on American Airlines
• March 5: Seasonal Spring Break service to Miami (MIA) on Spirit Airlines, joining existing service offered by American Airlines
• March 5: SAT’s first-ever nonstops to San Juan (SJU) on Spirit Airlines
• March 6: The resumption of nonstop service to Tampa (TPA) on Spirit Airlines, joining existing service offered by Southwest Airlines
• April 9: Daily, nonstop service to Atlanta (ATL) on Spirit Airlines, joining existing service offered by both Delta Air Lines and Southwest Airlines
• May 23: Nonstop service to Atlanta (ATL) on Frontier Airlines resumes
