Published on April 30, 2026
SAN ANTONIO (April 30, 2026) — The City of San Antonio World Heritage Office proudly announces the 2026 Outdoor Family Film Series, presented by H-E-B, at Mission Marquee Plaza, located at 3100 Roosevelt Ave., 78214.
The free outdoor film series kicks off on Saturday, May 2, 2026, with a screening of “Luca.” The opening night will feature pre-show activities with a photo op with the Vespa Club of San Antonio.
The Outdoor Family Film Series will run through Saturday, November 21, 2026, featuring free movie screenings every first and third Saturday, as well as the third Thursday of each month. Mission Marquee Plaza will open at 7 p.m. on these days, with films starting shortly after dusk. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, picnics, and snacks. A variety of local food trucks will also be on-site, offering food and beverages for purchase.
“We are excited to offer another season of free community programming at Mission Marquee Plaza,” said Colleen Swain, Director of the World Heritage Office. “With the support of the community and partners like H-E-B, we are excited to continue to build opportunities for people to gather and make lasting memories.”
This year’s film selections were based on community recommendations gathered through an open call via social media. The full schedule of movie screenings is available online at MissionMarquee.com. An exciting addition this year is the inclusion of the film “Hamilton” as part of the Texas America 250 celebration, which commemorates America’s Semiquincentennial in 2026.
“H-E-B is proud to once again support the Outdoor Family Film Series at Mission Marquee Plaza,” said Kelli Gieniec, of H-E-B Public Affairs. “H-E-B is dedicated to uplifting organizations that strengthen families and build community, and the Mission Marquee Plaza Outdoor Film Series is a wonderful way to bring people together.”
In addition to the outdoor movies, this season at Mission Marquee Plaza will feature nearly 65 events, including two farmers’ and artisans’ markets each month, complemented by a free community wellness and fitness event at each market. The World Heritage Office also hosts cultural events that celebrate San Antonio’s rich and diverse heritage.
Nestled near the historic San Antonio Missions, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and adjacent to the World Heritage Center, Mission Marquee Plaza continues the site’s long tradition as a community gathering space by hosting seasonal and cultural events, music and literary festivals, and more. In 2007, the City of San Antonio acquired the former Mission Drive-In property. In June 2014, Mission Marquee Plaza officially opened its doors for the next generation of nearby Southside families and all of San Antonio residents and visitors to enjoy.
