SAN ANTONIO (May 12, 2025) —The City of San Antonio World Heritage Office proudly announces the 2025 Outdoor Family Film Series, presented by H-E-B, at Mission Marquee Plaza, located at 3100 Roosevelt Ave.

The free outdoor film series kicks off on Thursday, May 15, with a screening of “Grease”. The opening night will feature pre-show activities with a performance by The Wonder Theatre Adult Troupe and a showcase of vintage cars courtesy of Push Rod Classic Car Club. The May 15 event will also include remarks by District 3 Councilmember Phyllis Viagran and the World Heritage Office.

"Situated in the center of District 3, Mission Marquee Plaza is a community facility for all San Antonio residents and visitors to enjoy," the District 3 Councilmember said. “Community feedback and involvement are essential for a successful programming season, as demonstrated by this year’s exciting movie lineup. We warmly invite everyone in San Antonio to join us at Mission Marquee Plaza.”

The Outdoor Family Film Series will run through Saturday, November 15, 2025, featuring free movie screenings every first and third Saturday, as well as the third Thursday of each month. Mission Marquee Plaza will open at 7 p.m. on these days, with films starting shortly after dusk. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, picnics, and snacks. A variety of local food trucks will also be on-site, offering food and beverages for purchase.

“We are excited to welcome a new season of community programming at Mission Marquee Plaza,” said Colleen Swain, Director of the World Heritage Office. “With the support of our partners like H-E-B, we are eager to create engaging experiences where our community can come together to enjoy and build lasting memories. It's truly a joy to witness how San Antonio residents and visitors have embraced Mission Marquee Plaza as a beloved gathering place.”

This year’s film selections were based on community recommendations gathered through an open call via social media. The full schedule of movie screenings is available online at MissionMarquee.com

“We are pleased to support the Outdoor Family Film Series at Mission Marquee Plaza,” said Monica Garza, H-E-B Public Affairs. “Since 1905, we have been supporting organizations that focus on family and community, and what better way to do that than an outdoor movie at a historic San Antonio site.”

In addition to the outdoor movies, this season at Mission Marquee Plaza will feature nearly 65 events, including two farmers’ and artisans’ markets each month, complemented by a free community wellness and fitness event at each market. The World Heritage Office also hosts cultural events that celebrate San Antonio’s rich and diverse heritage.

Nestled near the historic San Antonio Missions, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and adjacent to the new World Heritage Center, Mission Marquee Plaza continues the site’s long tradition as a community gathering space by hosting seasonal events, cultural events, music and literary festivals, and more. In 2007, the City of San Antonio acquired the former Mission Drive-In property. In June 2014, Mission Marquee Plaza officially opened its doors for the next generation of nearby Southside families and all of San Antonio residents and visitors to enjoy.
