SAN ANTONIO (August 1, 2025) – The City of San Antonio Metropolitan Health District (Metro Health) is launching the “Let’s Grow Together” campaign, a community-driven initiative focused on maternal, infant, child, and adolescent health that aims to promote programs and resources available to support pregnant women and families with children in San Antonio and Bexar County.

“Raising awareness about maternal and family care is a key role of public health,” Dr. Claude A. Jacob, Director of San Antonio Metropolitan Health District said. “Providing locally relevant information about ongoing maternal and child health trends ensures a healthy future for our community. This public health campaign is centered on the Metro Health vision of healthy people thriving in a healthy community.”

Metro Health is aligning this public health campaign with two national observances. August is National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM) and National Breastfeeding Awareness Month (NBAM), which emphasize timely vaccinations and breastfeeding support as critical elements of lifelong health.

The “Let’s Grow Together” campaign features a series of community outreach events, educational resources, and public awareness messaging across San Antonio. Metro Health will partner with other City departments, such as Health and Human Services, Neighborhood and Housing Services, Parks and Recreation, and San Antonio Public Library, while trusted community partners aim to connect families with a wide range of programs and services.

This strategic collaboration supports the implementation of essential public health infrastructure promoting access to care and community partnerships. The list of educational materials and details of scheduled events are available at SA.gov/Health.

Through coordinated efforts, Metro Health aims to build an equity-centered maternal and family public health system that guides our community in leading a healthier life from their early stages.
