Mayor Signs Tri-City Agreement with Sister Cities Kaohsiung & Kumamoto

SAN ANTONIO (March 20, 2026) – Today, Mayor Jones signed a trilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with San Antonio’s sister cities of Kaohsiung, Taiwan, and Kumamoto, Japan, which states that the cities will facilitate exchange and collaboration opportunities related to small and medium businesses, startups, and entrepreneurship with the intention to develop a long-term and mutually beneficial relationship between the cities.

“This Tri-City MOU further cements the long-standing partnerships San Antonio has had with Kaohsiung and Kumamoto and elevates those relationships with a strategic focus on economic cooperation,” said Mayor Jones. “The three of us recognize the need to go faster based on our mutual challenges and opportunities, and rooted in our shared values, this MOU will help us achieve our economic goals.”

The Mayor was joined by Mayor of Kaohsiung Chen Chi-Mai and Mayor of Kumamoto Onishi Kazufumi for the signing of the Tri-City MOU.

The signing of the Tri-City MOU concluded the Mayor’s San Antonio delegation trip to Taiwan, which focused on strengthening bilateral collaboration, accelerating investment opportunities, and reaffirming San Antonio as a competitive and supportive market for Taiwanese companies seeking growth in the United States.
