SAN ANTONIO (November 6, 2026) — Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones has been selected to serve on the Climate Mayors 2027 Steering Committee, joining a national coalition of municipal leaders advancing practical solutions to climate challenges while strengthening local economies and protecting public health.

Mayor Jones is one of three newly selected members, alongside Miami Mayor Eileen Higgins and Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval. The Steering Committee helps guide the priorities of Climate Mayors, a bipartisan network of more than 350 mayors representing over 70 million Americans across 47 states.

"As the sixth largest city in the country, I look forward to sharing San Antonio’s efforts to proactively address pressing climate-related issues," said the Mayor. "The Climate Mayors Data Centers Playbook was a helpful resource in guiding the commonsense regulations I recently proposed for data center regulations, and I look forward to collaborating with my colleagues on the Steering Committee to similarly advance practical solutions that support public health, economic development, and promote more resilient cities."

Through her service on the Steering Committee, Mayor Jones will help shape a national agenda that advances climate resilience, protects public health, and ensures growing cities like San Antonio are prepared to meet the challenges and opportunities of the future.
