Mayor Remembers Dr. Manuel Berriozábal

SAN ANTONIO (April 16, 2026) – Today, Mayor Jones released the following statement on the passing of Dr. Manuel Berriozábal:

“The legacy Dr. Berriozábal leaves behind is one of service and compassion, driven by his unwavering commitment to his students and inspiring them to strive for excellence in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics,” said Mayor Jones. “The work he’s done to reach youth, and particularly Latino youth, across San Antonio and embolden them to reach their full potential cannot be overstated. His work has served as a model throughout the country. Our community mourns his loss and celebrates his indelible imprint upon our hearts. May perpetual light shine upon this son of San Antonio, and our prayers and condolences are with Mrs. Berriozábal and their entire family.”
