Mayor Charts Path to Support Critical Programs Through Ready to Work

SAN ANTONIO (August 11, 2026) – Today, Mayor Jones released the following statement on discussing a path forward for Ready to Work during the budget process:

“Based on information recently provided by City staff, there is a potential opportunity to utilize Ready to Work dollars to support programs and services funded through the General Fund without the need for a public vote,” said Mayor Jones.

The Mayor continued, “Funding critical programs through Ready to Work, thereby freeing up funds for core services is exactly the type of due diligence our constituents deserve. I look forward to discussing these ideas on a path forward as we address our community’s most pressing needs during this affordability crisis.”
