SAN ANTONIO (December 18, 2025) – Today, Mayor Jones released the following statement on the San Antonio City Council’s vote to move the municipal elections from May to November of odd-numbered years:
“Elections are the foundation of our democracy, and moving them to a time when more people are engaged is a step toward increasing our turnout in San Antonio and improving participation overall. I sincerely appreciate all of the work voting rights groups have been doing for years to lay the groundwork for such swift action and am grateful that the majority of the City Council stepped up, given the quick timeline, to do the right thing for the people of San Antonio. I'm confident this move will increase voter turnout, save money, and strengthen our city's engagement in elections moving forward."
