SAN ANTONIO (October 8, 2025) — San Antonio Public Library’s (SAPL) Maverick Branch Library (8700 Mystic Park, 78254) will reopen to the public on Monday, October 13, 2025, after having its Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems replaced.
Maverick Branch Library closed in June for scheduled maintenance. The reopening signals a return to regular service for this library, with normal operating hours returning to Monday and Tuesday from noon to 8 p.m. and Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The complete HVAC system replacement was completed according to a comprehensive building plan for SAPL’s 30 library locations. The improvement aligns with SAPL’s commitment to the community to maintain excellent facilities where patrons and staff can remain comfortable while using the library.
During the closure, interim library service has been provided at the City Council District 6 Field Office at 6644 Tezel Rd. The final day for interim service will be Thursday, October 9. Materials checked out from the Maverick interim location can be returned to any SAPL location, including Maverick Branch Library when it reopens. SAPL never charges late fines for overdue books.
Significant recent improvements have also been made to the Brook Hollow, Bazan, Cortez, Great Northwest, Igo, Pan American and Westfall Branch Libraries, among others.
Maverick Branch Library first opened in February 2006 and will celebrate 20 years of service to San Antonio’s northwest community next year. The approximately 15,000-square-foot library was named for attorney and writer Maury Maverick, Jr., a San Antonio native. In Fiscal Year 2024, Maverick Branch Library welcomed over 110,000 visitors and checked out more than 275,000 books and other materials.
