Would-be adopters can take advantage of $0 pet adoptions and multiple events.

SAN ANTONIO (January 14, 2026) – Fetching a new BFF just got easier! San Antonio Animal Care Services (SAACS) is expanding adoption opportunities this weekend through a partnership with PetSmart and $0 adoption events at the shelter and in the community.

SAACS will host an adoption pop-up on Saturday, January 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at PetSmart, located at 8520 Fourwinds Drive, giving residents a convenient way to meet adoption-ready pets.

Dogs available at the PetSmart event include:

  • Sandy, a pretty girl with golden eyes, who was found abandoned at a local playground. Now thriving in foster care, she loves park outings and playing with her foster’s kids.
  • Tank, a gentle big boy who looks like the canine version of an Oreo. This black-and-white softie has been recovering in foster care after arriving injured and is ready for a fresh start.
  • Rosey, a young mom whose puppies have all found their forever homes. She’s now hoping to find a family of her own, ideally with a yard where she can enjoy sunbathing and zoomies.

In addition to the PetSmart event, $0 adoptions will be available on Saturday, January 17, and Sunday, January 18, at SAACS, located at 4710 State Highway 151. Residents can choose the adoption experience that works best for them. Attendees of either event can also learn more about the foster program and how temporary homes play a critical role in saving lives and supporting pets in need. Every adopted pet will receive the same comprehensive care package, including free sterilization, a registered microchip, vaccinations, and access to SAACS shelter trainers.

This weekend’s adoption pop-up is part of ongoing SAACS collaborations to promote the benefits of pet adoption and strengthen community connections. For more information about adoption or fostering, visit SAACS.net and follow @SanAntonioACS on social media.
