The month-long celebration includes book lists and events at various San Antonio Public Library locations.
SAN ANTONIO (November 5, 2025) –The San Antonio Public Library (SAPL) is observing Native Indigenous American Heritage Month in November with a diverse selection of in-person programming, books, resources and more.
What is commonly known as National American Indian Heritage Month started as a single day of recognition to honor Native American heritage and history. On August 3, 1990, former President George H.W. Bush declared the entire month of November as National American Indian Heritage Month. Through its programming and events, SAPL encourages the public to learn more about Native tribes, their history and the unique challenges they face.
