Book displays help patrons find literary love this Valentine’s Day.

SAN ANTONIO (February 9, 2026) — The San Antonio Public Library (SAPL) wants to set you up on a blind date—with a book! This month, take home your next read without knowing the title.

Select SAPL locations are setting up displays featuring books from all genres with a twist. The book jackets are covered with fun messages to hide the title and author so readers can’t judge the book solely by its cover. No judging these books by their appearance, just the substance inside.

But don’t worry, you won’t dive in completely blind. Books come with notecards or brief messages that detail the book’s ideal reader without giving too much away. These notes from librarians will make it easy for residents to pick a book they are likely to enjoy.

So, what are you waiting for? Head to the nearest SAPL location and go on a blind date where the stakes are low and there’s zero pressure to check it out again—no second dates required.

February is also National Library Lover's Month, celebrated annually to honor libraries, librarians, and the vital resources they provide to communities. Founded to encourage support for libraries, this month-long, international celebration highlights the role of libraries in fostering a love of reading and providing free access to information.
