Hundreds of Pets Hoping for a Home for the Howlidays

SAN ANTONIO (December 9, 2024) – San Antonio Animal Care Services (SAACS) hopes to give hundreds of shelter pets the gift of a family this festive season. Fee-waived adoptions will be offered at the Home for the Howlidays Adoption Fair and Holiday Market, held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, December 14. The free event will be held at the municipal shelter, 4710 State Highway 151, with shuttle parking from the nearby Pre-K 4 SA campus at 1235 Enrique M. Barrera Pkwy.

San Antonio’s first “snowfall” will delight would-be adopters as they search for a new companion and enjoy the family-friendly activities, including:

  • Free photos with Santa – pets are welcome!
  • $25 VIP Early Access with special pre-event entry and photos with Santa
  • A Paw’p Up holiday market with complimentary gift-wrapping for shoppers 
  • Live entertainment, ornament decorating, games, and “Read to a Cat” opportunities 
  • Holiday selfies with falling snow 
  • Passport 4 Paws, which allows attendees to enjoy the event with a shelter dog
  • Food trucks, S’mores, and a hot cocoa station
  • Pop-up visits from the Grinch Queen 

All pets adopted from SAACS are sterilized, microchipped with lifetime registration, and vaccinated with their first round of shots. All SAACS adoption policies and processes apply. Residents can sign up for VIP early access passes at SAACS.info/EarlyAccess.
