Limited-edition library card is now available while supplies last.

SAN ANTONIO (December 1, 2025) — San Antonio Public Library (SAPL) is introducing a new limited-edition library card that can be given as a gift. Anyone can visit a local SAPL location and pick up a specially designed card with all the necessary packaging to present a beautiful gift to a friend, colleague, or family member. The gift package is completely free and a wonderful way to introduce loved ones to the variety of free resources offered by SAPL.
A SAPL card is the perfect gift for anyone, including these examples below.
E-readers: The library offers over 200,000 eBook and eAudiobook titles through Libby, which can be accessed on a mobile device, tablet or eReader. SAPL even offers access to 800 new Spanish-language eBooks for children and teens through its new digital platform, MakeMake.
Movie Lovers: Kanopy provides tens of thousands of streaming movies and TV shows – free with a library card. Plus, Blu-Rays and DVDs are available at all SAPL locations, and libraries host free movie screenings.
Families: The library hosts free programs at all locations. From Storytime to arts and crafts, album release parties, plant swaps and sewing lessons, SAPL offers a variety of events for all interests and ages.
Chefs and Bakers (all levels): SAPL offers access to thousands of cookbooks.
Crafters: The online platform Craftsy provides over 2,000 craft tutorials in English and Spanish.
News Junkies: SAPL offers free access to The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and Ground News, a platform that compares news sources.
The giftable library cards will be available while supplies last. Library users can pick up five cards per person to gift to family and friends. SAPL cards are free to all residents of Bexar County.
