SAN ANTONIO (June 4, 2025) – Once again this summer, San Antonio Public Library (SAPL) is ready to help San Antonians of all ages stay cool and engage their minds. This year's Summer with SAPL event series features programs, giveaways, activities, reading, and more at all SAPL locations.

Summer with SAPL for Kids and Families

Free Books for Children: Children (0-12 years old) can visit any San Antonio Public Library location to pick out a brand-new book to start their summer of reading fun, while supplies last.

Meet the Paletas: SAPL will release a new Paleta character every Monday from June 2 through July 21, each with their own recommended reading list and backstory. Patrons can pick up a collectible bookmark for each new character every week at library locations while supplies last. Follow the library on social media (@mysapl) to find out who will be revealed next.

Featured Guests and More: Music, bubbles, animal encounters, opera, magicians, Story Times, crafts, science, art, nature, history, and musical workshops are all part of the program schedule for this year’s Summer with SAPL for children and families. With featured guest programs each week, there’s something for everyone all summer long at the San Antonio Public Library. Free printed program guides are available at all library locations.

In addition to featured guests, the library is offering a host of programs centered around art, creativity, science, discovery, and play. For a complete listing of SAPL’s summer programs for kids, visit the online events calendar.

Teen Summer

High-school-aged teens are invited to take charge of their summer experience at the library through teen-led activities ranging from music production, book exploration, tech discovery, art creation, video gaming, and more! Teens can pick up a free summer t-shirt at any library location, while supplies last. The artwork for the t-shirt was designed by teen artist Lola Suffridge. Free teen activities will take place daily at the Teen Library at Central Library and online via the @210teenlibrary Discord server. Free weekly teen activities will take place at various library locations. Teens can earn volunteer service hours by leading high-interest library activities for peers in their community.

More details on Teen Summer are available on the SAPL website.

Summer Fun for Adults Too

Adults (18+) can visit SAPL locations to receive a free library pen light that illuminates the way to reading, learning, exploring, and connecting. Adults can also participate in a variety of educational, informative, and entertaining programs all summer long!
