Free Landfill Day this Saturday, February 8

SAN ANTONIO (February 6, 2025) – The City of San Antonio Solid Waste Management Department (SWMD) is inviting its customers to a free landfill day event this Saturday, February 8, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the following locations: 

• Republic Services Landfill - 7000 IH 10 E, 78219
• Waste Management Landfill - 8611 Covel Road, 78252
• Texas Disposal Systems – 11601 Starcrest Drive, 78247

SWMD customers must bring a valid picture ID and a copy of their most recent CPS Energy bill showing payment of the City’s environmental fee. All loads must be covered with a tarp and customers are highly encouraged to wear a safety vest.

Accepted Material

• Household bulky items like appliances, furniture, and mattresses
• Carpet, fencing material, water heaters, and toilets
• Tires (limit six passenger vehicle tires per household)

Unaccepted Material

• Roofing material, sheetrock, dirt, brick, brush, lumber, construction materials
• Industrial or commercial waste 

The City reserves the right to divert loads to other sites during operational constraints. The City and its partners are not responsible for damage to vehicles or injury to event attendees. SWMD operates four bulky item drop-off centers that are free to dispose of solid waste and open year-round Tuesday through Saturday. Visit SARecycles.org/ for those locations.
