Fourth of July in San Antonio. Know Before You Go

SAN ANTONIO (July 1, 2026) – San Antonio’s official Fourth of July celebration will be at Woodlawn Lake Park, with free family activities, live entertainment, carnival rides, food vendors and fireworks celebrating America’s 250th anniversary. The free event runs from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. For more information visit the San Antonio Parks Foundation website.
Heading Downtown?
More than 75,000 residents and visitors are expected to enjoy a full lineup of patriotic celebrations, family-friendly festivals, live music, fireworks, sporting events, and more in downtown San Antonio this weekend.
“Our goal is to help everyone enjoy a safe, memorable Fourth of July celebration,” said City Manager Erik Walsh. “With several large events taking place at the same time, we encourage everyone to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and consider using public transportation.”
Fourth of July Weekend Events Downtown
Visitors can enjoy a variety of events, including:
- Stars & Stripes on Houston Street
- Independence Day at the Alamo
- Market Square July 4th Weekend Celebration
- River Walk Artisan Show
- Fireworks at Hemisfair
- Ye at the Alamodome
Before heading downtown, attendees are encouraged to check event details, road closures, and parking information at SA.gov/GoDowntown
Plan Ahead
With multiple large events occurring throughout the weekend, visitors should:
- Allow extra time for travel.
- Expect increased traffic in and around downtown.
- Review road closures before leaving home.
- Reserve or plan parking in advance whenever possible.
- Consider using public transportation.
Visitors already staying downtown are encouraged to explore on foot. The downtown area and River Walk provide convenient access to many of the weekend's events.
Take VIA Park & Ride Downtown
Skip the traffic and parking hassles by using VIA Metropolitan Transit.
Beginning at 5 p.m., VIA will offer Park & Ride service from:
- Stone Oak Park & Ride, 22139 U.S. 281 South, 78264
- Crossroads Park & Ride, 151 N Crossroads Blvd., Balcones Heights, 78201
- Frost Bank Center, 1 Frost Bank Center Drive, 78219
- Walmart at Brooks, 3302 Southeast Military Drive, 78223
Round-trip fares are $2.60, with discounted fares available for children, seniors, students, and military personnel.
Riders may also use Route 100 Prímo, which provides connections between downtown parking garages, hotels, and event venues. Beginning at 5 p.m., the Robert Thompson Transit Station will be added as a stop on Route 100.

Attending the Alamodome Concert?
Guests are encouraged to plan ahead:
- Arrive early. H-E-B Plaza opens at 4:30 p.m. with merchandise, food, and beverages. Doors to the show open at 6 p.m.
- Plan your parking. Alamodome Lots B and C open at 2 p.m. Parking is $60 per vehicle, available on a first-come, first-served basis, and credit card only. Guests may also reserve off-site parking through ParkWhiz.
- Allow extra time. Expect traffic, parking delays, and security screening. Review the Alamodome's clear bag policy and prohibited items list. Concertgoers can find additional information at Alamodome.com.
Celebrate Safely
The safety of residents and visitors remains the City's top priority. Attendees are encouraged to:
- See Something, Say Something. Report suspicious activity to law enforcement.
- Follow directions from police officers managing traffic and pedestrian crossings.
- Remember that discharging firearms within the city is illegal.
- Never drink and drive. Designate a sober driver, use public transit, or arrange a rideshare.
